Celebrating KD's 125th with a Green and White Gathering

Kappa Delta celebrates its 125th anniversary on October 23rd and we know that means celebrations with sisters are in our future! Julie Wendell, Zeta Alpha-Texas Tech, of opens in a new windowJulie Wendell Events put together a guide for hosting your own Green and White Gathering in the Fall edition of the Angelos.

We had a few more drink recipes that we wanted to share with you. So, grab your white roses, green party decorations and your sisters and let’s make a toast to 125 years of Kappa Delta.  

The KD Green Drink is a favorite of Kappa Deltas all over. Made with only a few, simple ingredients, this green punch will be the hit of your Green and White Gathering!

KD Green Drink

Serves one

Ingredients: 

  • 2 scoops lime sorbet 
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • 1 cup ginger ale 
  • Pineapple wedge for garnish 

Directions: 

  1. Scoop two scoops of lime sorbet into serving glass 
  2. Top with pineapple juice and ginger ale 
  3. Garnish with pineapple wedge 
  4. Cheers! 

This Limeade Cream is the perfect tart drink to celebrate the 125 years of sisterhood, community and confidence that Kappa Delta has brought to us all.  

Limeade Cream

Serves one 

Ingredients:

  • 2 limes cut into wedges, plus 3 slices for glass 
  • ½ cup limeade 
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk 
  • 2 cups of ice 

Directions: 

  1. In blender, pulse lime wedges, limeade, and cup of ice for 15 seconds. Don’t pulse for too long, or mixture can get bitter
  2. Strain mixture into measuring cup 
  3. Once strained, pour mixture back into blender and add sweetened condensed milk. 
  4. Pulse for 15-30 seconds, until frothy 
  5. Fill serving glass with ice and tuck lime wedges around the outer edge 
  6. Pour in frothy limeade mixture and serve immediately 
  7. This drink is best served right away – after 30 minutes it can become bitter
  8. Cheers! 

  These drinks will be the perfect addition as you join Kappa Delta for a virtual event this Founders Day weekend, commemorating 125 years of sisterhood, community and confidence.  

Tune in on Saturday, October 22, for a special Founders Day message from National President Susan Stockton recorded from Longwood University, where KD first began! Then follow along as she tours the Longwood campus and points out KD landmarks from our founding.  

You’ll also have the opportunity to watch videos from former Miss Universe Japan, Juri Watanabe, and Beth Langford, former national president and current Kappa Delta Foundation chair. We’re also revealing the winning design of the 125th commemorative T-shirt, and much more!
