Celebrate 125 years of Kappa Delta at KD’s 65th Biennial National Convention June 30-July 3, 2023, at opens in a new windowGaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. This big event is where Kappa Deltas from all over the country come together to celebrate in sisterhood, elect a new National Council, vote to amend bylaws, network, learn and so much more. The National Leadership Team Academy for NLT members will take place June 29-30.
There are so many great reasons why you should attend convention! This year, Kappa Delta will conclude our 125th anniversary celebration at our first in-person event in two years, so this convention is a big deal! Attending convention means getting to meet sisters from all over the country, take part in special traditions, grow your sisterhood and network, expand your leaderships skills, and so much more.
Any Kappa Delta sister is invited to attend! From collegiate members to national volunteers, sisters from all over the country will come together to learn, grow, network and shape the future of Kappa Delta for the next biennium.
Some of our different registration types include Collegiate Chapter Delegates, Alumnae Chapter Delegates, Chapter Advisory Board members, House Corporation members, National Leadership Team members, collegiate sisters and alumnae sisters.
That’s a great question! A delegate is someone a collegiate and alumnae chapters send on behalf of their local chapter to vote on important matters brought to convention business meetings. Some of the items a delegate gets to vote on are amendments to the Bylaws and electing members to National Council.
Usually the delegate includes the chapter president, but it can be any member that the chapter chooses to send!
If you’re a Collegiate Chapter Delegate or a member of NLT, everything except for your flights and transportation are included in the registration price. Hotel, meals, and any programming you’d like to attend are all included! Chapters should be budgeted to cover the registration and transportation expenses for at least one delegate to attend.
For our other full-time attendees like Alumnae Chapter Delegates, CAB members, etc., meals and programming are included in your registration price! Other items like hotel, flights and transportation are not included. Some chapters might be budgeted to send more members or volunteers, so check with your chapter before registering at your own expense!
For our part-time attendees, registration includes programming and you get to select which meals you’d like to pay to attend! Other items like hotel, flights and transportation are not included.
The most important question, what do I wear to convention? Lets break down the events and what items you should pack.
Friday is opening session where we’ll celebrate KD with a fun birthday theme. Wear your favorite green and white outfit, come ready for fun!
Saturday, our delegates and NLT members will need to wear white dresses, or white dress pants with white blouse, and white shoes to all business meetings on Saturday. All other attendees do not have to wear white but should wear appropriate pin attire. Hotel meeting rooms can be chilly so pack a sweater or light jacket! Cocktail attire is to be worn for Saturday night’s awards dinner.
On Sunday, we’ll be in our general and breakout sessions so bring any nice dresses, slacks, skirts and blouses, jackets and sweaters you’d like to wear. Hotel meeting rooms can be chilly so pack a sweater or light jacket. Later Sunday evening is the White Rose Banquet which is a formal attire event.
No worries, we got you! Starting Jan. 31, we’ll have a list of convention FAQs to find the answers to any more questions you might have.
