Since the first consultant hit the road in 1962, consultants have strengthened chapters and helped members build confidence, while developing their own skills in the process.

    A Leadership Development Consultant (LDC) is a Kappa Delta staff member that travels the country, providing support and guidance to collegiate chapters with their operations, recruitment, leadership, sisterhood and more!  

    LDCs are full-time, salaried members of the Kappa Delta Headquarters staff, offering recent grads the perfect opportunity to kickstart their career and gain professional confidence.

    As a leadership development consultant (LDC), you’ll work closely with collegiate chapters to strengthen their recruitment strategies, development and sisterhood. By visiting chapters in-person and supporting them virtually, you will play a vital role in shaping their success, providing guidance on best practices, and helping ensure their long-term sustainability and growth. Through this role, you’ll gain skills in leadership, communication, strategy and project management that will serve you in your career.

    Applications for the 2025-2026 cohort are now open!

    Applications open Oct. 1, with interviews taking place throughout December, with most LDCs being notified they have been selected in January of the following year. 

    Once selected, in early summer, LDCs attend an in-person training at Kappa Delta Headquarters in Memphis, TN. After training, in early August LDCs begin supporting their chapters through in-person visits and ongoing virtual contacts. The role concludes in May of the following year.

    Any good-standing member that has graduated within the past year or is approaching graduation!

    The LDC interview process consists of virtual interviews to get to know you and for you to get to know the team and learn a bit more about the position. After the virtual interviews, Kappa Delta brings selected interviewees to Headquarters in Memphis, TN for an in-person, final round interview weekend.

  • What professional development opportunities are available? 

    Professional development is a key focus throughout an LDC’s year. In addition to traveling to KDHQ for summer, fall and spring training sessions, LDCs receive ongoing opportunities for growth, such as facilitation skills training, conflict resolution, one-on-one personalized coaching, career development workshops, LinkedIn optimization and resume writing. We help LDCs identify and develop their unique strengths for success in the role and far beyond! Every aspect of the training—whether it’s workshops or hands-on experience—is designed to build confidence and set you up for long-term career success.

  • Do LDCs work at the HQ office or travel full-time?
  • Do LDCs work at the HQ office or travel full-time?

    Both! Leadership development consultants work in an office half the time – whether that be remotely in a home office or at KDHQ – and the other half is spent traveling for training or chapter visits. You might be taking a call at the airport, in a hotel room or even in the back of an Uber! If you love exploring new places, being an LDC could be perfect for you. 

    Did I have to be an officer to apply?

    No! You did not have to hold a specific Kappa Delta officer role to apply. However, we are looking for individuals who have leadership experience and campus/community involvement, superior time management skills, and excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
