Volunteer Spotlight – CAB-Inclusion Nadine Fares

Kappa Delta volunteers are our foundation. They give their time, energy and expertise to keep Kappa Delta moving forward, and our organization would not be the same without them. Every month on the Emerald Edit, we’ll highlight one of our many incredible volunteers to showcase the impact they have on our members.

Nadine Fares (Gamma Beta-North Texas) joined Kappa Delta in spring 2014 and has stayed connected to the sisterhood ever since. Today, she gives back as CAB-Inclusion for Delta Zeta-Louisiana/Monroe. In this role, Nadine helps support the chapter’s efforts around inclusion, belonging and member engagement. In her role, she works closely with the VP-Inclusion to set priorities and foster sisterhood and belonging. On average, Nadine spends about 1–2 hours a week in her role, with most of her work done through regular communication with the VP-Inclusion.

We caught up with Nadine to learn more about why she shares her time and talent with Kappa Delta and what advice she has for other volunteers.

What inspired you to start volunteering with Kappa Delta? I started volunteering with Kappa Delta because I’m passionate about KD and love giving back. Being an active member had such a big impact on my life. It helped me grow as a leader, make lifelong friends and grow my confidence. I wanted to give back and help current members have that same amazing experience.

What has been the most rewarding part of being a Kappa Delta volunteer? Being part of CAB is incredibly rewarding because I get to support women as they grow into leaders and positively impact their personal and academic lives, helping shape their future success. Additionally, I’ve made some of my closest friends through CAB, connections I would never have had if it weren’t for Kappa Delta.

What advice do you have for volunteers serving on a CAB? My advice to new CAB is to actively build connections within the chapter; they look up to you so much, and you can truly make a difference in their lives.
