The Alcohol Skills Training Program (ASTP), first piloted in 2024-2025 with 26 chapters, is a discussion-based training that helps collegians navigate alcohol-related decisions with honesty, confidence and care. Through real conversations and practical tools, ASTP empowers sisters to make safe and responsible choices, supporting their overall well-being.

The pilot was such a resounding success that KD has expanded the implementation of ASTP, so each and every member will receive this empowering education. In a four-year cycle, every chapter will participate in ASTP. During the fall 2025 term, the program was presented to 35 chapters, and another 20 chapters received training during the spring 2026 term.

ASTP survey results show a strong, positive impact on how members approach decision-making and risk management. As Amy Kim, Sigma Tau-Washington State, shared, “Because of the interactive tools we were given [during the Alcohol Skills Training Program], I feel like my sisters will use them to better understand what is happening in their bodies and make better decisions to stay safe. It’s a different training than I’ve ever experienced!”

The program has been so successful that multiple chapters have asked for additional resources following the session.

The program will continue to target more than 40 chapters annually (25%), allowing for intentional engagement with chapter members at least once in their Kappa Delta collegiate experience, with the goal of reaching between more than 6,000 collegians annually. In addition, all chapters with more than 350 members will continue to receive ASTP annually, as part of Kappa Delta’s proactive outreach and harm prevention strategy for our largest chapters.
