In June 2025, the Kappa Delta Foundation awarded the Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Alumnae Chapter a $7,500 KiDs Grant on behalf of Kids Hub Children’s Advocacy Center to support its expansion into a new facility. The investment came at an important moment for the organization, helping create a larger, more child-centered space with additional forensic interview rooms, family waiting areas and room to expand mental health services.
When a child walks through the doors of Kids Hub Children’s Advocacy Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, they may be there for one of the hardest conversations of their young lives. And today, thanks to that KiDs Grant support, Kids Hub is able to offer more of that care under one roof.
“Our previous facility had two forensic interview rooms,” Charissa Stamm of Kids Hub shared. “The new facility has three forensic interview rooms, three separate family waiting areas, and significantly more space for advocacy and mental health services.”
But the biggest opportunity created by the new space has been the growth of Kids Hub’s mental health program.
A child may come to Kids Hub first for a forensic interview, but for many children, that is only the beginning of the healing process. With mental health clinicians on-site, advocates can help families make a more seamless transition from forensic interviewing and family advocacy into trauma treatment.
The impact of the KD Foundation’s investment isn’t limited to the services provided inside the building. It can be seen in the small moments, too.
Every child or family member who visits Kids Hub for the first time is offered a brand-new teddy bear through the organization’s Teddy Gram program. Children arrive anxious and uncertain, and much of what happens during their visit is outside of their control. But at the end of the visit, choosing a teddy bear is something they get to control.
“The teddy bear cannot change what happened to the child,” Stamm shared, “but it can change how that particular visit ends.”
This is just one example of the impact you make as a donor. A $7,500 KiDs Grant you made possible helped Kids Hub expand at a pivotal moment. That expansion created capacity. That capacity has helped the organization grow specialized mental health services. And that growth means more children can move from being heard, protected, supported and comforted to receiving the treatment they need to heal.
