Kappa Delta volunteers are our foundation. They give their time, energy and expertise to keep Kappa Delta moving forward, and our organization would not be the same without them. Every month on the Emerald Edit, we’ll highlight one of our many incredible volunteers to showcase the impact they have on our members.
As CAB Chair for the Lambda Chapter at Northwestern, Kailin Vannatter (Beta Delta-Utah State) has had a front-row seat to the growth, challenges and big wins that come with advising a chapter. From cheering on new members to watching seniors walk across the graduation stage, she’s loved being part of it all. We caught up with Kailin to hear what she enjoys most about volunteering, what keeps her coming back, and her advice for anyone stepping into a CAB role.
What’s been your favorite part of the CAB Chair role since you joined Lambda’s CAB? The many women I’ve come to know and call sisters—both alumnae and collegians. Over the years, I’ve seen this chapter navigate its share of ups and downs, and through the resilience and courage of these young women, we’ve come out stronger every time. Since COVID, I’ve watched this chapter grow not only in membership but in sisterhood, too.
Do you have any advice for volunteers taking on the CAB-Chair role? Lean on your sisters. There may be countless moving parts, but this is a sisterhood after all, and your fellow advisors are just as eager to continue their connection to Kappa Delta.
What’s the most rewarding part of volunteering with Kappa Delta? Seeing the confidence in these young women flourish. Meeting these women as new members, watching them join council, attend their first National Convention, and eventually become graduating seniors is the most rewarding part.
There are so many opportunities to share your time and talent. From working with a local collegiate chapter on a chapter advisory board or house corporation board to serving on a foundation committee like the scholarship review committee, we are grateful for the thousands of alumnae who give back to KD.
