Who is eligible?

Kappa Delta collegiate sisters that are:

• In good standing with KD.
• Have served in a KD leadership role (of any kind!).
• Have held one or more campus leadership positions.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, on a 4.0 scale.
• Are returning to college the following year as a senior or a fifth-year senior.

What do I need to apply?

There are a few requirements you’ll need to check off before you can submit your application. You will need:

• A completed, electronic scholarship application (no snail mail, please!).
• Unofficial academic transcripts from every college or university you’ve attended.
• Address information for your permanent residence AND the address of your residence while you’re attending school.
• Your Academic Office’s mailing address.
• Responses to the essay questions.
• Complete lists of KD involvement, community involvement, academic or other awards, and work experience while in college.
• Contact information for one recommendation from an academic or professional source.

How do I select my recommenders for my Corre Award application?

You are required to submit one (1) recommendation for Corre Award applications. The recommendation should be from a professional, academic, or Kappa Delta source – so no family members. The intent of this recommendation is for someone who can attest to overall character and/or need for a scholarship. You do not need a recommender for merit or need-based scholarship applications.

I’ve selected my recommender for my Corre Award application. What’s next?

Let your recommender know that they will receive an email from SmarterSelect. This email will have a link they can follow to provide their recommendation online. Remind your recommender to check their spam folder if they do not receive the initial email. Once they submit it online, the recommendation will automatically upload to your application account. You’ll then be able to see that the recommendation has been submitted in your application account, but not the content submitted by your reference. The recommendation is due on the same day as your application.

How are applicants scored?

Applicants are scored in several categories: academic achievement, involvement (KD/campus/community/work), leadership and personal statements.

What can I use the scholarship to pay for?

Kappa Delta Foundation scholarships can be applied toward academic expenses, including tuition and course related fees. Because the Kappa Delta Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, our scholarships cannot be applied toward Kappa Delta or sorority-specific expenses, including dues. 

If you have leftover scholarship funds at the end of the year, the unused funds may not be applied to the next academic year’s tuition or your graduate school tuition and must be returned to the Kappa Delta Foundation.  

How will I be notified if selected?

Applicants are notified via email if they have or have not received a scholarship. The foundation will use your preferred email address indicated in your application. Applicants are announced over the summer. Please be careful to submit an email address that you will have access to while you are away from school.

Where will my scholarship money be sent?

In the summer prior to the start of the school year, the scholarship will be sent to your university on your behalf. You will have the opportunity to update your university information before your scholarship is distributed. Your student ID number will be included on the memo line of the check, so the university knows where to apply the scholarship. 

To ensure your scholarship is applied correctly, the Kappa Delta Foundation sends instructions with all checks asking the university to apply the scholarship fully to your fall semester tuition. You should also make sure to monitor your account to make sure the full scholarship is applied to fall semester tuition.
