“Little girls with dreams become women with vision.”
We all know girls who inspire us, make us laugh, solve problems and plan to save the world one day. They have big dreams, and they have the talent to make them a reality. The only thing missing is a world that tells them they can do it. On this International Girls Day, we are here to tell the girls in our lives that they can do anything!
Kappa Delta created International Girls Day in 2009 to celebrate the girls in our lives, build their confidence and inspire them to reach their full potential. For eight years, Kappa Deltas have celebrated on or around Nov. 14 by hosting girls in their community for a day filled with confidence-building, goal-setting and fun adventures. Girls leave the event with a confidence boost and a reminder that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
Are you planning to celebrate International Girls Day with the girls in your life? There are so many ways you can tell them they can do anything! Take them on a campus tour. Learn about volunteer opportunities in the community. Host a panel of women leaders from local organizations to share their experiences and advice. Try something new together, like taking a cooking class. Facilitate an activity that gives girls a chance to recognize one another’s unique talents. Plan a service event together. The list goes on! Check out the Kappa Delta website for other ideas.
Girls with ideas become women who change the world. This International Girls Day, celebrate the girls in your life by telling each one that she can do anything. Share your celebration with the hashtag #YouCan. We can all play a role in shaping a world where girls are told, and believe, that they can do anything.
