Volunteer Spotlight - Beverly Crocker

Kappa Delta volunteers are our foundation. They give their time, energy and expertise to keep Kappa Delta moving forward, and our organization would not be the same without them. Every month on the Emerald Edit, we’ll highlight one of our many incredible volunteers to showcase the impact they have on our members.

For more than a decade, Beverly Crocker (Eta Alpha-Texas A&M/College Station) has been a steady source of guidance, encouragement and confidence for the women of Eta Alpha. As CAB Chair since 2018, she leads with intention, coordinating council meetings, supporting chapter leadership and ensuring advisors feel equipped to serve. Even while dedicating several hours a week to Kappa Delta, Beverly makes a profound impact, helping create an environment where members can grow and thrive.

We sat down with her to learn what inspires her, the moments that have meant the most and why she believes volunteering with Kappa Delta is one of the most rewarding ways to give back.

What are your favorite parts of working with our collegiate members? My favorite part of being an advisor is the opportunity to witness their leadership journey unfold. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch women begin their time in the chapter as new members, then expand their horizons through smaller leadership roles and eventually step into larger positions like serving on the governing council. Seeing them find their confidence and voice throughout that process is truly inspiring and so rewarding to know that as a trusted advisor, I’ve helped shape their experience.

How has volunteering enriched your life personally or professionally? In so many meaningful ways! Personally, it has given me a deep sense of fulfillment to support and mentor young women as they grow into confident leaders. Building relationships with collegiate members and fellow CAB volunteers has created a strong sense of community and purpose in my life. Professionally, volunteering has strengthened my own leadership, communication and mentoring skills. It has also broadened my perspective as the collegiate experience continues to evolve with each passing year.

What advice would you give to other Kappa Delta sisters considering a volunteer role? Take the leap; you will gain far more than you can imagine! Volunteering allows you to stay connected to the organization that shaped you as a member, while giving you the chance to support the next generation of leaders. Don’t worry about having all the answers; what matters most is showing up, being willing to listen and offering your time and perspective. The relationships you build with collegiate members, fellow advisors and other alumnae are incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. The experience as an advisor will enrich your life in positive ways you won’t expect!
