Signs You’d Make a Great LDC

Ever wondered if the leadership development consultant (LDC) role might be for you? Maybe you led your chapter through a successful recruitment, helped a new officer feel more confident in her role or realized you love being the one who others turn to for support. Or maybe you just know you’re not quite ready to close this chapter of your KD journey and are looking for your next step.

Whatever brought you here, it’s worth asking: could this be the experience that launches your career and lets you keep making an impact?

Here are a few signs you’d make an incredible LDC (and why you should definitely apply):

You love helping others grow.

You don’t have to be everyone’s go-to person for advice, but if you’ve found yourself encouraging younger officers, offering suggestions or checking in when someone seems overwhelmed — that instinct to support is exactly what makes a strong LDC. This role is all about mentoring chapter leaders, offering thoughtful feedback, and being the person who helps others feel more capable and confident.

You’ve got a thing for strategy and structure.

Planning a successful workshop. Walking a team through recruitment logistics. Identifying chapter goals and knowing how to break them down into steps. LDCs help chapters see the bigger picture and figure out how to get there. If you’re someone who likes to problem-solve and organize a plan, you’ll feel right at home.

Bonus: You’ll sharpen real-world skills like project management, time management and consulting — all things that will make your professional résumé stand out.

You’re curious, flexible and not afraid to try something new.

The LDC role takes you to new campuses, new cities and new situations every week. If you’re open to a challenge, can roll with the unexpected and like learning as you go, this experience will stretch you in the best ways. It’s fast-paced, varied and never boring.

You know how to communicate with care and confidence.

Whether you’re leading a workshop or navigating a difficult conversation with a chapter officer, LDCs learn how to lead with clarity, empathy and professionalism. If you’ve been told you’re a strong communicator (or if you’re trying to become one), this job will push you and give you skills you’ll use in every career path moving forward.

You’re ready to grow and stand out.

Yes, this is a role where you’ll give a lot, but you’ll also gain so much. From learning to manage your own schedule and prioritize competing needs, to building working relationships with national volunteers and headquarters staff, the LDC role gives you a jumpstart on professional life.

No matter where you go next — grad school, corporate, nonprofit, education — you’ll walk away with experience that sets you apart.

And of course, you care deeply about KD.

This job isn’t about reliving your college experience. It’s about helping the next generation of leaders find their voice. It’s about supporting sisterhood in action and leaving Kappa Delta stronger than you found it.

Ready to go confidently?

Applications are open now, and we’re looking for the next cohort of consultants to join the 2026-2027 LDC team. Whether one of these signs stood out or all of them sound familiar, we hope you’ll apply or join an upcoming virtual interest session (happening Oct. 20 and Nov. 11) to learn more.

Your KD experience doesn’t have to end at graduation. This could be the most meaningful year yet.
