Be INSPIRED by Convention Speakers

post-default

Pack your bags! This week, we will welcome over 1000 Kappa Deltas at the Sheraton Dallas for Kappa Delta’s 63rd Biennial National Convention. National Conventions are designed to carry out sorority business, but they are also a time for reunions, celebrating achievements, inspiration and learning. This year, our programming will feature many captivating speakers! Learn more about some of them here.

In the session, “Love Mom and Dad: The Truth about Hazing,” convention attendees will experience a powerful message given by Evelyn Piazza, Rae Ann Gruver, mothers of Timothy Piazza and Max Gruver, fraternity men who died as a result of hazing. Katy Feldner (Beta Pi-Florida), Max’s cousin, joins to share her unique Kappa Delta perspective. You will be inspired to join their efforts to end hazing.

Next, Alex Sheen will inspire us to keep our promises. Sparked by the loss of his father, he created Because I Said I Would, a social movement dedicated to the betterment of humanity. In this session, Alex shares his insights and actionable ways to fulfill our commitments by sharing real-life examples.

Next upis the Inspire KD Panel. Facilitated by former National President Corre Anding Stegall, three inspirational Kappa Deltas share how their KD experience prompted them to take action — through business, the community or leadership opportunities. Alexis Cooper (Beta-Delta-Utah State) helps us recognize the ways women of color experience subtle racism on our campuses and inspires us to be better. KaLynn Gates (Alpha Lambda-Oregon), an entrepreneurial lawyer with AccessOne and healthcare specialist, speaks about her mission to make healthcare affordable for all. Founder of Taylor Burke Home, Julianne Taylor (Sigma Phi-Georgia) is one of the home décor industry’s most prominent female entrepreneurs. In this session, she shares her tips for success.
