MEMPHIS, Tennessee. – The Kappa Delta Foundation is pleased to announce the seven recipients of the 2016 KiDs Grants, impacting an estimated 8,925 people. KiDs Grants provide funding for Kappa Delta alumnae and alumnae chapters to partner with local non-profit agencies to provide significant financial support to programs that have a direct positive effect on families and children.
Grants will fund the following programs:
- Houston Alumnae Chapter received a $6,000 grant benefiting the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council to build a ball pit and supply 25 bikes at Camp Wind-A-Mere.
- Greater Atlanta Day Alumnae Chapter received a $5,000 grant on behalf of Wellspring Living Inc. to renovate a schoolroom used for its girls residential program that helps domestic sex trafficking victims.
- Jenna Bennett, a Delta Sigma-South Alabama alumna, received a $5,000 grant benefiting Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Harrison County to develop a pilot program that will provide 25 twin mattresses and bed frames to children who are at risk of entering the foster care system.
- Low Country, South Carolina, Alumnae Chapter received a $3,000 grant on behalf of the Child Abuse Prevention Association to supply 18 quilts and 20 sheet sets for a local children’s home that aids child abuse victims.
- Tracy Emmons, an Epsilon Chi-Baylor alumna, received a $2,500 grant to be presented to Family & Children’s Services of Tulsa, Oklahoma, to supply the Child Abuse and Trauma Service program with toys and two-way communication systems for parent-child interaction therapy.
- Detroit Tri-County Alumnae Chapter received a $2,500 grant benefiting the Children’s Center to provide autistic children with visual supports during therapy sessions.
- Jennifer Rosenberger, a Zeta Kappa-Ball State alumna, received a $1,000 grant to be presented to Four County Counseling Center in Logansport, Indiana, to create a sensory room by supplying sensory items and toys for children and adolescents who have witnessed trauma and are receiving treatment.
“Kappa Delta Foundation KiDs Grants allow us to further our reach outside of Kappa Delta to the communities around us,” said Bonnie Warren (Beta Sigma-Southern Mississippi), chairman of the foundation board. “We are so pleased to award grants to such worthy causes and make a difference for children in need.”
