Ready to step up? Here’s how I knew

Every Kappa Delta has a moment when she realizes the impact of her sorority experience and the value of giving back. For some, it’s a feeling of deep connection to the sisterhood; for others, it’s a desire to shape the future of Kappa Delta. We are sharing three stories of National Leadership Team (NLT) members who knew it was their time to step up and serve at the national level.

Their experiences show that no matter where you are in life, your unique talents and passion can make a lasting impact. Let their journeys inspire you to take the next step in your Kappa Delta involvement — especially as alumnae consider filling out an NLT interest form by the fast-approaching Nov. 30 deadline. Now is the perfect time to make your mark!

Sam Mosby
BRIT Case Director

I was initiated into Eta Eta–Northern Kentucky in 2005, and like many, I thought my time in Kappa Delta was over after graduation. However, when a National Council member asked me to help my chapter’s CAB, I agreed to serve for just six months — but here I am still serving! Through that role, I became more aware of what was happening at the national level and admired the women on the NLT.

In 2020, amid the challenges of COVID and racial inequity, I wanted to make a positive difference. A sister on the NLT mentioned that Kappa Delta was forming a DEI committee and encouraged me to apply. As a DEI trainer professionally, it felt like the perfect fit. I joined the committee and helped create the Bias Response Intervention Team (BRIT) to support chapters and members navigate concerns and ensure they understood our policies.

Today, I serve on the NLT as BRIT case director, and I love every minute. I get to meet sisters across the country while working to ensure everyone feels a sense of belonging, regardless of race, ethnicity or sexual orientation. Kappa Delta has been my home for over 15 years, and I want every sister to love their letters as much as I do!

Jenn Cronin
Housing Resource Specialist – Manager

It’s been a while since I joined the NLT! During my time as CAB chair at Alpha Sigma-New Hampshire, I had the opportunity to learn more about serving at the national level. While I enjoyed being Chapter Advisory Board chair, I was curious about how I could support Kappa Delta in a different way. The idea excited me, but I was also nervous — it felt like a big step. I believe that when you grow in any role, it should feel exciting but also a bit of a stretch. That nervousness is a sign that you’re expanding your skills and finding new ways to give back while growing your own Kappa Delta experience. Joining the NLT was one of the best decisions I’ve made. It’s been incredibly rewarding both as a Kappa Delta and for my personal and professional growth.

So, take the leap and fill out the application — you never know where you might be needed!

Kylie Transki
Chapter Recruitment Specialist

As a collegiate member of Kappa Delta, I was in love with the recruitment process and everything about it! My local advisors saw this in me and encouraged me to apply to work for Kappa Delta Headquarters as a consultant when I graduated.

Fast forward six months: COVID shut down campuses across the country, I was about to graduate on Zoom, and the consultant role was no longer on the table because we couldn’t travel in-person, but I still knew I loved sorority recruitment, leadership and mentorship.

The fall after graduating, I applied to be a Chapter Recruitment Specialist (CRS) for the National Leadership Team. With very little volunteer experience, but a whole lot of passion for Kappa Delta, I was appointed to my new CRS role in 2021. Having a tie to Kappa Delta during my first four years after graduating has given me a constant during a time of so much change in my own life. Since joining NLT, I have moved homes, completed a graduate program, opened a business and gone through so many other life changes, but still had my monthly Kappa Delta calls to bring me the familiarity and comfort I’ve needed!

These stories show that stepping up to serve at the national level can be both rewarding and transformative. Whether you have extensive volunteer experience or simply a deep love for Kappa Delta, your unique talents and passion can make a difference. The National Leadership Team offers you the chance to give back, grow personally and professionally and help shape the future of our sisterhood. If you’ve ever felt the call to do more for Kappa Delta, now is your time. Submit an NLT Interest Form by Nov. 30 and discover how you can leave your mark on this incredible organization!
