Earlier this month, staff members from our marketing and communications team attended the Fraternity Communications Association Annual Conference. Each year, FCA recognizes and celebrates the communications efforts of inter/national sororities and fraternities. Kappa Delta Sorority and Foundation took home 10 awards in honoring our magazine The Angelos, social media presence, The Emerald Edit blog, email newsletters, and former longtime Angelos editor Sherry Anderson.
Sherry Anderson (Delta Gamma-Western Kentucky) was honored with the prestigious Evin C. Varner, Jr. Fraternal Communications Award. Sherry’s journey — from her roles as Kappa Delta communications coordinator to The Angelos editorial assistant and her 16 years as editor — reflects her dedication to KD and all sororities and fraternities. Even after retiring in 2021, Sherry’s commitment to preserving Kappa Delta’s history shines through her archival columns, bridging generations of members
Our Own KD, Kappa Delta’s 65th Biennial National Convention
One of FCA’s most prestigious awards, the William C. Levere Award for Total Communication honors the best communications program directed to members or an outside audience for a single purpose.
Culminating our 125th anniversary year, sisters came together at the 2023 National Convention to reflect on our history, learn from keynote speakers, conduct business, elect new national leaders and celebrate collegiate and alumnae chapter successes. With nearly 900 attendees – collegiate and alumnae members, national volunteers, donors and staff – this was an impactful and pivotal event for the organization that appealed to our diverse membership.
Using the theme, “Our Own KD,” the campaign and event focused on celebrating 125 years of sisterhood and the power of each sister’s own Kappa Delta experience.
Through stories, videos, programs, social media, keynote speakers, educational sessions, newsletters, interactive displays, emails, and more, this convention acknowledged our accomplishments, imagined the future and recognized those who have left a lasting impact on Our Own KD. This was an eventful weekend full of sisterhood, celebration and confidence.
The Angelos
This award is given for overall excellence of a publication in a magazine. Every issue published in 2023 was judged cover to cover on writing, design, readability and relevance to its intended audience. The Angelos continues to set high standards in these areas, demonstrating excellence in all aspects.
On December 26, 2023, we shared an Instagram Reel made by Hailey Filera-Eta Nu-Sacred Heart, and it gained the highest amount of engagement of any KD social media post ever. This post was viewed 3,436,163 times, and we gained more than 1,000 new followers due to this incredible engagement.
This is the fourth year in a row that Kappa Delta has placed first in the blog category. The Emerald Edit continues to provide fresh, engaging and relevant content that resonates with our audience, maintaining its position as a leading blog within the sorority and fraternity community.
Collegiate Confidante
This award honors outstanding efforts in communication through a digital newsletter. The Collegiate Confidante is a monthly newsletter sent to collegiate members, officers, chapter advisory board members and housing volunteers. This targeted newsletter was created to connect with and provide them with important information, updates and announcements.

This award honors outstanding design of a feature article layout in a magazine that is three pages or longer. “Cookies & Confidence” was a standout due to its creative and visually engaging design, effectively drawing readers into the story. The article combined compelling imagery with thoughtful typography and layout choices, making it a pleasure to read and explore.
Our Own KD – Convention coverage
The Angelos feature “Our Own KD” was recognized for its great combination of writing and design. This recap of Kappa Delta’s 65th Biennial National Convention highlighted the excitement of the event and made the reader feel like they were there.
“From Scratch” was recognized for its creativity, presentation and organization. Highlighting the blend of engaging writing, creative design and even a recipe to share, the feature effectively captures an alumna’s passion for baking and her inspiring story.
We’re incredibly proud of these achievements and the hard work of our team in making them possible!
