Memphis, Tenn. July 2, 2023: The Kappa Delta Foundation awarded $25,000 in KiDs Grants to six recipients at Kappa Delta’s 65th Biennial National Convention in National Harbor, Maryland. KiDs Grants offer individual alumnae and alumnae chapters an opportunity to partner with their local nonprofit agencies to make a difference. Applicants are encouraged to work with collegiate chapters, alumnae chapters or other sisters.

“KD instills a spirit of philanthropy in our members that lasts a lifetime and KiDs Grants offer a way for sisters to take action in their communities,” said Beth Martin Langford, chair of the Kappa Delta Foundation board of directors. “This years’ projects perfectly address a wide range of needs. I am certain they will make a lasting impact.”

The 2022-2023 KiDs Grant recipients and their projects are as follows:

• Cara Finger, Alpha Chi-Louisiana Tech, on behalf of My Bag My Story to provide high-quality duffel bags and backpacks for foster children so they no longer have to carry their belongings in trash bags.
• Esther Jones, Zeta Beta-Union, on behalf of Regional Inter-Faith Association to support their Snack Backpack Program, which provides nutritious, easy-to-prepare, kid-friendly meals and snacks to elementary school children who would otherwise have little or no food on Saturdays and Sundays.
• Greater Atlanta Day Alumnae Chapter on behalf of Wellspring Living to support the Receiving Hope Center Welcome Basket Project, which will provide a recently rescued participant with a fleece blanket, stuffed animal, journal, coloring book, colored pencils, notes of encouragement, toiletries, underwear, socks and a bathroom towel set.
• Long Beach, California, Alumnae Chapter on behalf of His Little Feet to provide new shoes for under-privileged youth.
• Low Country, South Carolina, Alumnae Chapter on behalf of The Children’s Center to provide children of working parents educational enhancement programs where they can participate in learning music, science and literacy.
• Memphis, Tennessee, Alumnae Chapter on behalf of Memphis Family Connection Center to provide red tubs for foster children in Memphis filled with clothing, toys, shoes, toiletries and more. In addition, the grant will help cover counseling and therapy for red tub recipients.
