How do you give back?  

Winter will soon be here. Somewhere between the pecan pie (yum!), gatherings with loved ones (yay!) and relentless hustle and bustle (whew!), it’s important to take stock of what truly matters. 

Today, Nov. 15, is National Philanthropy Day: a holiday that started in 1986 as a day to celebrate how charitable gifts of time, talent, and treasure change lives and communities. First and foremost, the Kappa Delta Foundation wants to thank all our volunteers and donors! We would not be a top women’s organization without your commitment! 

On Nov. 30 (that’s just a little over two weeks away!), the Kappa Delta Foundation will participate in Giving Tuesday. Since its beginning in 2012, Giving Tuesday has grown into an annual day of generosity that inspires people to give back. Largely a social media campaign, it sings to the same tune as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But unlike Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you won’t have to wait in any long lines or miss any flash deals. That’s because Giving Tuesday kicks off the season of giving, traditionally a time when we focus on our end-of-year giving. 

The Kappa Delta Foundation invites all Kappa Deltas, families and friends to “Give Confidently” and donate to the foundation this Giving Tuesday. Funds raised will allow the foundation to continue to offer worthwhile opportunities and experiences that build confidence in women and inspire them to action. Here are just a few examples of the opportunities the Kappa Delta Foundation provides:  

• Graduate and undergraduate scholarships to make paying for college less stressful;  
• Internships, leadership training and professional development to prepare students for their future careers;   
• Educational training for collegiate members to address personal safety, sexual assault and hazing prevention;  
• Grants for alumnae experiencing dire financial need to help get them back on their feet 

So, will you choose to “Give Confidently” on Giving Tuesday?
