MEMPHIS, Tennessee — The Kappa Delta Foundation awarded $25,000 in KiDs Grants to seven recipients. KiDs Grants offer individual alumnae and alumnae chapters an opportunity to partner with their local nonprofit agencies to make a difference in their communities.

Each year, $25,000 is available for KiDs Grant projects that have a direct, positive impact on families and children, with a maximum of $10,000 available for a single recipient. Applicants are encouraged to work with collegiate chapters, alumnae chapters or other sisters.

“Kappa Deltas are passionate about making a lasting impact on the lives of others and KiDs Grants offer a way for sisters to take action in their communities,” said Beth Martin Langford (Kappa Alpha-Florida State), chair of the Kappa Delta Foundation Board of Directors. “This years’ projects are excellent. We are proud Kappa Deltas will take part in making such a lasting impact.”

The 2022-2023 KiDs Grant recipients and their projects are as follows:

• Champaign-Urbana, Illinois Alumnae Chapter received a $6,360 grant on behalf of Crisis Nursery to purchase billboards and media ads to promote child abuse prevention efforts, Crisis Nursery services, and events to support the mission of Crisis Nursery. The grant will also provide several months’ worth of subscriptions to a new database, which will give nursery staff the critical resources to share the impact of our comprehensive services to the entire community.
• Nashville Alumnae Chapter received a $5,000 grant on behalf of Nurture the Next to support program expansion across the 20-county service region in Middle Tennessee.
• Central New Jersey Alumnae Chapter received a $4,500 grant on behalf of Be the Li9ht Foundation/Be the Li9ht Center. The grant will support the launch and growth of the new BeTheLi9ht Center for teens, including funding training for volunteers, promotional materials and administrative costs that will help launch the facility.
• Greater Atlanta Day Alumnae Chapter received a $3,000 grant on behalf of Wellspring Living to improve the Girls Residential Program (GRP) Garden Classroom. The garden provides students with a space to learn vital life skills, math/science, and principles of good nutrition in a therapeutic environment.
• Alexa DeFalco, Eta Upsilon-North Carolina State, received a $2,250 on behalf of Our Wave, an online platform designed to empower survivors of sexual assault to anonymously and safely share their stories. The grant will sponsor three online survivor communities that will provide survivors with a safe space to share their stories and connect with resources that are most applicable to their health and healing at a local level.
• Tallahassee, Florida Alumnae Chapter received a $2,000 grant on behalf of A Full Summer to purchase food to assemble meals and to sponsor food pantries supported by A Full Summer.
• Low Country, South Carolina Alumnae Chapter received a $1,890 on behalf of The Children’s Center to supply interactive activity rugs for classrooms. Rugs are used as teaching tools during circle time and in their play centers.
