Kappa Delta Foundation Awards Grants to Promote Confidence on College Campuses and Aid Children in Local Communities

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Kappa Delta Foundation is pleased award $38,390 in Confidence U Grants, which provide funding for confidence-building programming on college campuses, and KiDs Grants, which support programs that have a direct positive effect on families and children.  These grants will impact an estimated 27,275 individuals between August 2017 and July 2018.

Two universities will receive Confidence U grants, totaling $13,390. Mississippi State University will use the funds to plan “You Go Girl –Women’s Empowerment Week,” a weeklong event that will focus on The Strong Movement, which helps women and girls of all ages build strong bodies and minds through healthy living. The University of North Florida will use the grant to host “Panhellenic Pride Week,” a weeklong series focused on confidence that will empower the Panhellenic community.

Four KiDs Grants, totaling $25,000, will be awarded to Kappa Delta alumnae and alumnae chapters to partner with local non-profit agencies.

  • Elizabeth Jane Sherman, an Epsilon-Louisiana State alumna, received a grant benefiting 4theKids Baton Rouge Inc. to provide leadership training experience to high school and college students.
  • Karin Lorenz Crosby, an Epsilon-Louisiana State alumna, received a grant benefiting the Children’s Museum of St. Tammany to support two new program initiatives that focus on the arts and STEM; these Kappa Delta exhibits will also be influential in assisting children with autism.
  • San Antonio, Texas, Alumnae Chapter received a grant benefiting ChildSafe to provide art supplies for a music/art therapy room for abused and neglected children.
  • Petersburg, Florida, Alumnae Chapter received a grant benefiting Suncoast Center Inc. to provide clothing for survivors of child abuse and sexual assault.
