Kappa Delta Foundation Awards Grants to Aid Children in Local Communities

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – The Kappa Delta Foundation is pleased to award $25,000 in KiDs Grant awards, supporting programs with a direct positive effect on families and children. These grants will impact an estimated 12,790 individuals between August 2018 and July 2019.

KiDs Grants are designed to encourage partnerships between Kappa Delta alumnae or alumnae chapters and local nonprofit agencies to improve the quality of life for kids, the heart of the community. The grants support quality programming and prevention-oriented projects with a maximum of $10,000 for a single recipient.

The Kappa Delta Foundation awarded four grants to Kappa Delta alumnae and alumnae chapters partnering with local non-profit agencies.

  • Jennifer Jameson, Epsilon Tau-Clemson, received a $10,000 grant on behalf of Greenville Health System to fund a community outreach program that assists children and families facing challenges due to the growing opioid crisis in South Carolina. The grant will provide educational programming, First Responder Emergency Custody Kits and Newborn Supportive Environment of Care Kits for the community.
  • Greater Atlanta Day Alumnae Chapter received a $7,000 grant on behalf of Wellspring Living, Inc. to fund kitchen renovations for a girls’ residential program which aids survivors of domestic sex trafficking.
  • Rio Grande Valley, Texas, Alumnae Chapter received a $6,500 grant on behalf of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hidalgo County to create and furnish a play therapy room for victims of child abuse and sexual assault.
  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Alumnae Chapter received a $1,500 grant on behalf of Meta House, Inc., for a Family Fun in Recovery program that will support Addiction Recovery Month activities during September. This program is designed to educate families and address the causes of substance use disorders, including poverty, trauma, mental health and homelessness.
