If we know anything about sexual assault, we know this: it won’t just go away on its own. Luckily, as a women’s organization, we don’t have to fight this epidemic alone — we have each other. As we shared in a recent Coffee and Confidence post, Kappa Delta is a partner of the It’s On Us campaign because we know when we band together we can make a real difference.
Changing the culture around sexual assault doesn’t require us to develop big strategies that can be difficult to implement. We can make small, meaningful changes when the opportunity presents itself. Stepping in or speaking up when a situation feels unsafe, challenging someone’s dangerous beliefs about relationships or holding your peers accountable for their actions can go a long way in ensuring we all have a safe environment in which to thrive.
There are many ways to get involved in a situation to change it for the better. Revisit the Show You C.A.R.E tips from RAINN to get started.
Speak up. Support your sisters. Take appropriate action. We can make a difference.
