Whether you’re a new graduate or newly retired, Kappa Delta alumnae chapters are a great way to find support and make new KD connections. From coast to coast and across generations, we asked Kappa Delta alumnae: how does your alumnae chapter help you to create community in your current stage of life?

Cypress, Texas, Alumnae Chapter and Houston Alumnae Chapter 

Being part of an alumnae chapter has been the primary way I’ve built community since graduating college. Young professionals like me sometimes have a hard time organically making friends because there are not as many spaces as there are in college to put yourself out there. Alumnae chapters have been the perfect place for me to most easily connect with other local women and develop lasting friendships in my new postgrad city. The first few months of postgrad were a little isolating since most of my college friends didn’t move to Houston, but joining the alumnae chapters in Houston gave me incredible intergenerational connections who were more than willing to help me get settled, look for a job and made me feel more connected to the most important part of my college experience: Kappa Delta. I couldn’t imagine my life without being part of alumnae chapter!

Elizabeth Guariglia Delgado  

New York City Alumnae Chapter  

I had been following the KD NYC Instagram page for a while and finally decided to be brave and show up to one of the events after work. I had just graduated law school and was looking for a way to connect with other like-minded women in NYC and hopefully make some connections in the legal world. I am so happy that I attended that happy hour in 2023 because I met some of the most genuine, kind and driven women. In 2025, I was nominated to take over as president of the NYC chapter, and it has been so fun and rewarding. It is so wonderful to be able to find and connect with women who have similar values especially in such a huge city like New York. I made lifelong Kappa Delta friends in college but also now in my adult professional life. We are so excited to continue to grow the NYC chapter and make more friends!

Kirstin Barry Mareth  

Richardson/Plano, Texas, Alumnae Chapter  

After moving from Memphis to Dallas in 2022 for my husband’s job, I joined the Richardson/Plano Alumnae Chapter. I thought it would be a comforting way to connect with my new community and keep Kappa Delta woven into my life.  

Today, as a mom to a one-year-old with another baby on the way, my world is wonderfully busy. I can’t give to Kappa Delta the way I once did, but the AC has made it easy to stay engaged in ways that fit my current rhythm. I look forward to our monthly birthday lunches, Founders Day brunch, membership drive and holiday cookie exchange. 

Even though many members are from different generations, they’ve shown me that sisterhood isn’t defined by age. Whether you’re welcoming grandchildren or rocking a newborn, Kappa Delta offers a home for every woman.

North San Diego Alumnae Chapter 

At this stage of my life as a retired educator, my alumnae chapter has given me something truly valuable — a continuing sense of belonging, purpose and sisterhood. It has created a community of women who share not only the bond of our college years, but also the experiences that come with each new season of life. 

Through gatherings, fundraiser walks, the support of Zeta Rho Chapter during recruitment, various celebrations and simple meetups for coffee, movies or lunch, we have continued to build friendships while welcoming new ones. 

What I appreciate most is that our sisterhood has continued to grow with us. It reminds me that meaningful friendships do not have an expiration date. My alumnae chapter has provided a place to stay connected, to contribute and to know that I am part of something larger than myself. The KD letters may have brought us together through unique circumstances, but it is the love, friendship and shared commitment to one another that continue to make us sisters today.
