If there’s one lesson we learned during the year of “unprecedented times,” it’s that your life can change drastically at the drop of a hat. It’s rare to find something you can always count on. Kappa Delta is there to be a constant in your life as a collegian and alumna, every step of the journey. Two world wars, recessions and depressions: Kappa Delta remained strong through it all. When the going gets tough, sisters are there to keep you upright, no matter what! Here’s how:
As exciting as college can be, it’s not without its challenges. While your collegiate years will likely be filled with new experiences, laughter and fun, many college women must work through the growing pains of “coming into your own.” When you inevitably get homesick, Kappa Delta is there to be your home away from home. Your sisters become your family, best friends and confidants. Eventually, on a summer or long holiday break, you may realize you’re now homesick for your home in KD.
College women are students first, sorority members second. When you see all your friends spending time together, it can feel impossible to hunker down in the library for an all-night study session. Luckily, KD is there to cheer you on in your academic pursuits and keep you focused on your goals. When midterms, homework and papers become too much to handle, Kappa Delta is there to support you with study groups, academic accountability and sisters in your major. There’s always a sister around to quiz you, proofread an essay or send a “good luck” text before a big test.
Imagine standing in a room with 272,000 women, all Kappa Deltas. That’s a lot of sisters! But that’s what membership in KD feels like. While all these sisters may not physically be there for you, they’re there to support you, even when spread out across the country. Sisters provide job opportunities, networking support and connections you might not have gained otherwise. Take the LinkedIn KD Networking page as an example; the group provides mentors for recent graduates, connects sister to job opportunities and provides countless tidbits of advice to help sisters grow professionally.
Life gets hard sometimes. (We all saw that firsthand during the pandemic.) And sometimes, you might need real, tangible support from sisters who care. Or, you may be close to seeing a dream come true (applying to grad school or interviewing for a big job) and be just shy of making it a reality. Crisis grants, scholarships and a shoulder to cry on are all available for Kappa Deltas throughout their membership. Sisters are there for the good times, but they show up for one another in the hard times too. It’s nice to know you can always rely on KD, a constant reminder that everything will be OK.
No matter where life takes you, Kappa Delta sisters are never far. Moved to a new city where your only friend is…the pizza delivery man? With over 220 Kappa Delta alumnae chapters across the country, you won’t have to look far to find support. KD is there to get you plugged into a network of sisters who will welcome you with open arms! We’ve heard it so many times before: “Kappa Delta is for life.” But it’s true! There’s no expiration date on the friendships Kappa Delta can foster.
