MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Kappa Delta Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of its Confidence U Grants, which provide funding for confidence-building programming on college campuses.  These grants will impact an estimated 6,812 individuals during the 2016-2017 academic year. Ten universities will each receive a grant of $5,000.

• Ball State University will use the grant to fund “Know Your Body November,” a month-long event that will help women appreciate their minds and bodies and recognize the beauty in others.
• The University of North Georgia will host “Confidence UNG,” a series of meetings and workshops to inspire confidence and encourage female students to become their best self, personally and professionally.
• The University of North Florida is planning “Panhellenic Pride Week,” a weeklong series that includes five speakers who will discuss confidence and how it impacts our daily lives.
• Iowa State University will use the grant to host “Iowa State Women’s Empowerment Week,” a week of events that will focus on the well-being and health of women and will empower women to define success for themselves.
• The University of Tulsa will host “C3PO: Chapter, Campus, Community Panhellenic Outreach,” a program that will foster bonds between Panhellenic women.
• Arizona State University is building confidence in college women who have been victims of abuse with its “Confidence Who? Confidence YOU” event.
• Miami University in Ohio plans to host “Kappa Delta KΔnfidence Week,” to promote confidence and empower women on campus.
• The University of San Diego will use the grant to fund “Confidence Is…,” a week of confidence building events and activities that focuses on building bonds among women on campus.
• Millsaps College will host a “Women in Leadership Summit” to empower women to seek leadership roles and create awareness of challenges and social constructs that impact women in leadership.
• The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill will use the Confidence U grant to plan “The Delta Advocate’s Week of Sexual Assault Awareness,” a series of activities and initiatives that will provide education about sexual assault and consent and empower women to take a stand against interpersonal violence/sexual assault.

“The Kappa Delta Foundation is thrilled to offer Confidence U grants to these deserving schools. We were extremely impressed by their plans and their commitment to building confidence on their campuses,” said Bonnie Warren, chairman of the Kappa Delta Foundation board.

Additionally, the Kappa Delta Foundation presents a $1,000 award to one outstanding Panhellenic representative, Greek advisor or university leader who is making a difference in the lives of women on his or her campus. Margaret Burnett, a member of Kappa Delta’s Theta Zeta Chapter at Lehigh University, is the recipient of the 2016-2017 individual award. The grant will be used to fund progressive programs that will benefit the Panhellenic community.

Confidence U Grants are designed to provide funds for universities to raise awareness of the many issues related to lack of confidence among young women, such as eating disorders, dating abuse, alcohol abuse and relational aggression, including hazing, cyberbullying and other risky behaviors.
