That’s a Wrap! Celebrating the Sisterhood of IWFM

Throughout September, Kappa Delta members came together to celebrate what makes this sisterhood so powerful: friendship.

We asked you to share the stories that define your Kappa Delta experience and wow, did you show up. From the first moments of Bid Day to lasting bonds forged through life’s most meaningful (and challenging) moments, your stories reminded us that sisterhood isn’t just something we join, it’s something we live.

We featured dozens of your submissions throughout the month, but there were far too many to fit on social media alone. So, we’re sharing a few more stories here — because celebrating friendship never goes out of style.

Kristin Dare & Elizabeth Bartleson, Zeta Mu–Towson

Kristin and Elizabeth met their freshman year at Towson University and joined Kappa Delta together in spring 2005. From the start, KD was more than just a shared experience — it was the foundation of a friendship that would last a lifetime. Through formals, study sessions and chapter traditions, their sisterhood deepened. Twenty years later, they’re still each other’s best friend. They’ve stood beside one another through weddings, motherhood, big moves and new jobs — but also in the quiet, everyday moments. Their favorite annual tradition? Matching spooky season tattoos and exploring every Halloween activity they can find together.

Sera Giles, Nu-Oklahoma State & Courtney Hrubala, Epsilon Sigma-Wofford

Sera and Courtney didn’t meet in a chapter house — they met as leadership development consultants, fresh out of college and full of KD spirit. Their friendship began during LDC training but took off when they spent a month straight traveling together for chapter visits. They shared everything — hotel rooms, meals, airport delays and stories of their collegiate experiences — and built a bond rooted in shared purpose and genuine joy. Their LDC paths continued as second-year consultants helping establish chapters at TCU and Samford, and their friendship only grew from there. Over the years, they’ve kept their friendship strong through annual girls’ trips, countless celebrations and by standing beside each other in life’s biggest milestones — like when Courtney was a bridesmaid in Sera’s wedding this August, a full-circle moment made possible by KD.”

Carla Spina & Sarah Lytle, Gamma Epsilon-Florida Southern

From the moment Carla and Sarah met, something clicked. Sarah brought light, laughter and loyalty into Carla’s life, becoming her confidante, “partner-in-crime” and daily dose of joy. As sorority twins, their bond was already special—but KD gave them something deeper: a friendship that felt meant to be. Carla says it best: “Even though we’ve known each other less than a year, it feels like I’ve known Sarah my whole life.”

Susie Hyde, Sigma Xi-Bethany & Jill Peck, Beta Phi-West Virginia

Susie and Jill met through the Houston Alumnae Chapter in 2017 and instantly clicked over their shared KD roots — even though their original chapters were different and they had a 10-year age gap. Their bond grew through service: co-leading ceremonies, helping chapters with recruitment and attending State Days, spaghetti dinners and even National Convention together. They’ve clocked hundreds of miles road-tripping to support KD, but what they’ve really built is a friendship rooted in shared values, a love for crafting (especially with a Cricut) and a deep commitment to sisterhood. Jill is more than a KD connection—she’s Susie’s “#ifnotforKD sister.”

Jenni Simms Tucker, Epsilon Chi-Baylor & Spring McKinney, Delta Delta-Troy

When Jenni joined the Chapter Advisory Board at the newly established Theta Pi–Alabama/Birmingham chapter, she was new to volunteering. Spring quickly became her sounding board, her teammate and ultimately, one of her closest friends. Their shared love for KD helped them navigate those early leadership roles. But it was outside of KD where Spring’s friendship shined brightest — she stepped in when Jenni’s husband was diagnosed with cancer and continued to support her through his passing. When Jenni wasn’t sure she could keep going, Spring gently invited her to serve again  —this time at the Zeta–Alabama/Tuscaloosa chapter. That second act brought healing, purpose and a friendship stronger than ever. Today, they serve different chapters, but continue to lift each other up, showing what lifelong KD friendship truly means.

Susan Gregory and Jana Collier, Epsilon Chi-Baylor

Susan and Jana first met in January 1986 on Acceptance Day at Baylor University. They connected immediately and built a friendship that has now lasted nearly 40 years — rooted in shared experiences, mutual encouragement and the bond of Kappa Delta sisterhood. From living in different states to walking through marriages and motherhood, Susan and Jana have remained constant in each other’s lives. “She inspires me to be the best version of myself,” Susan shared. “I am so grateful to Kappa Delta for sisterhood and friendship in AOT.”

Sarah Wenzel, Aubrey Cater & Bridget Black, Sigma Upsilon-Indiana

Sarah, Aubrey and Bridget’s friendship started during their collegiate KD years, and it’s only grown stronger over the last decade. They’ve stayed close through regular meetups, life milestones and shared memories with their KD friend group. This year brought a new twist: all three are pregnant with baby girls, due within weeks of each other. They’re already dreaming of future playdates, matching KD onesies and passing on the legacy of friendship to the next generation. A shared bond in college became a lifelong sisterhood — and now, a sisterhood for their daughters too.

KD Friendships Last Long After September

International Women’s Friendship Month may be over, but your stories and sisterhood keep going. As we wrap up IWFM, we hope you’ll take a moment to reach out to the KD who’s made a difference in your life.

Whether it’s a text, a coffee date or a surprise note in the mail — friendship thrives when it’s nurtured. Thank you for being part of this celebration and for showing us, once again, that friendship is at the heart of everything we do.
