Volunteer Spotlight – CAB Chair Amanda Wynne

Kappa Delta volunteers are our foundation. They give their time, energy and expertise to keep Kappa Delta moving forward, and our organization would not be the same without them. Every month on the Emerald Edit, we’ll highlight one of our many incredible volunteers to showcase the impact they have on our members.

This month, we’re excited to spotlight Amanda Wynne (Kappa Alpha-Florida State), who serves as CAB chair and CAB-finance for the Delta Eta chapter at the University of South Florida. Amanda has taken on key leadership roles during a time of transition, guiding the chapter with dedication and care. Whether she’s building relationships, mentoring chapter leaders or sharing her thoughtful advice with fellow volunteers, Amanda’s dedication to Kappa Delta and her passion for giving back shine through in every aspect of her work.

We caught up with Amanda to learn more about why she shares her time and talent with Kappa Delta and what advice she has for other volunteers.

What has been your favorite part of moving into the Chair role? My favorite part of stepping into the chair role has been the opportunity to build relationships—with the rest of CAB, advisors on NLT and more collegians. Our CAB has gone through transition this year, with three new members joining and only one member having more than a year of experience on the board. It’s been incredibly rewarding to focus on getting to know each other; building a strong, cohesive team; and directly advising the chapter president.

Do you have any advice for volunteers taking on the CAB-F role without prior finance experience? While having an accounting background can be helpful, it’s absolutely not a requirement. My advice for anyone stepping into the CAB-F role is to ask lots of questions, listen carefully, and take the time to study the many resources available. Finance touches every part of chapter operations. Don’t expect to know everything right away; it takes time to learn the systems, charts of accounts and processes. Most importantly, remember you’re not alone. There are experienced and supportive women ready to help you succeed in your new role.

What is the most rewarding part of advising for you? The most rewarding part of advising has been watching collegians grow and succeed in their roles. I started my position as the new council transitioned, and I’ve worked closely with the VP-F, meeting almost weekly since November. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see her learn and thrive in a previously unfamiliar area while making progress toward her goals. I’ve also loved getting to know the young women leading their chapter—it’s a big responsibility, and being able to support them, provide answers, and offer guidance through challenges has been such a meaningful experience.
